How can we help?

Note (3/18/2020):

The announced release date for this update was 3/21, however, due to changing priorities in the face of COVID-19, the release has been postponed one week and is now scheduled for 3/28.

As you probably know, there are two destinations from which to manage your Rallybound campaigns. These are generally referred to as the Org Admin and the Admin Panel. The Org Admin is where administrators group campaigns, create and manage administrator roles, and more. The Admin Panel, by contrast, is where administrators manage everything related to a specific campaign, from settings to communications to reports. In addition to the fact that two disparate destinations and interfaces for administrator tools is not great, the latter interface — the one more commonly used out of necessity — while still leaps and bounds better than our competition, is also not exactly considered "up to date" and has clashed with our efforts to stay at the forefront of technology.

That's why we're very proud to announce that in the first quarter of 2020 we will be moving on from our Admin Panel interface and migrating all settings, grids, and reports interfaces into the waiting arms of the future — the Org Admin.

As you might expect, this is a huge undertaking for our team, especially since we've decided to migrate everything at once — to rip off the bandaid, as it were, instead of drawing the process out over the course of months or even years. On our end, while we think you will absolutely love the result, we also recognize that this is going to be something of a learning curve. Well, we're here to help! Below, we've outlined what to expect in this migration. As we get closer to launch, we will be providing even more information, with communications and webinars and walkthroughs. We will highlight not only the interface upgrades, but also the powerful new management tools — a first in the industry! — that we've baked into this project as well. Hopefully at the end of it all, you will be expert enough that the migration will be not only painless, but a celebration of discovering new and innovative ways of managing your fundraising efforts.

What to expect

In the first quarter of 2020, we will be sunsetting the Admin Panel interface, and migrating all settings, grids, and reports interfaces into the Org Admin. This translates to a number of major changes in terms of navigation and management of your campaigns. Below is a high-level overview of these changes, with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

One Destination

There will now be only one admin interface, and one destination for administrators to visit. This destination will be at (as it is currently). You will still be able to navigate directly to your campaign's (new) admin interface with the direct link.

The location of dictionary entries and individual settings has been completely rethought. Everything now has a natural and logical place and is much easier to find. Along with this, the permission structure has changed to reflect the changes in where settings are located. The migration design allows for a maximally smooth transition, so there is absolutely no action required — administrators will continue to have the same permissions they had before the migration.

You are probably already familiar with the navigation of the Org Admin if you've used it to any extent. That navigation system will continue to work as expected, but will be expanded significantly. Now, not only will the organization level contain tabs (currently Activity, Statistics, Settings), but every group and campaign will have those tabs as well. Which brings us to our last item:

The big one! All settings and dictionary entries can now be set on the organization level or on a group level and the configuration will propagate to its children. Children can also override a setting inherited from its parent and configure their own in its place. In practice, this means that a setting or dictionary entry can be configured on the organization level once, this setting or dictionary entry will then be inherited by all campaigns in the entire organization, and individual overrides can be made for groups to then propagate to their children in turn, or on campaigns themselves to override the setting or dictionary entry of its parent.

This last one is the one we're most enthused about. We think it's a really powerful tool that can be used in so many different and innovative ways and we are excited to see how you will use it to bring your fundraising efforts to the next level!

New Admin Walkthrough

Below we've posted the video recording of the webinar held on 3/9, which includes a walkthrough of the new admin.

In closing, we'd like to remind you to stay tuned for updates. We have a webinar coming up where we'll take a deep dive into everything outlined here and more. And, as mentioned above, we're here to help! If you have any questions or concerns at all about the Admin Migration Project, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Happy fundraising!
